GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The Management Information Systems (MIS) undergraduate program is a four-year full-time program. In order to graduate, students must successfully complete compulsory and elective courses totaling at least 240 ECTS credits, obtain a minimum grade of DD or YT in all courses, and achieve a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00.

Graduates of this program are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems. They are also eligible to apply for graduate (Master’s and PhD) programs.

EXAMINATIONS

At our university, the following types of examinations are administered: midterm exams, final exams, resit (make-up) exams, excuse exams, placement exams, and single-course exams.

ASSESSMENT

Student performance is evaluated based on midterm exams and coursework completed during the semester (such as assignments, applications, and laboratory work), as well as final and resit exam results.

The total weight of in-semester assessments (midterms, quizzes, assignments, and applications) is determined by the instructor within the first two weeks of the semester and must be between 30% and 60%.

GRADING SYSTEM

For each course, one of the following letter grades is assigned by the instructor at the end of the semester. The corresponding coefficients and equivalent score ranges (out of 100) are shown below:

Grade Coefficient Score Range
AA 4.0 93.01–100.00
AB 3.7 83.67–93.00
BA 3.3 76.67–83.66
BB 3.0 69.67–76.66
BC 2.7 60.34–69.66
CB 2.3 56.61–60.33
CC 2.0 53.33–56.60
DC 1.5 49.00–53.32
DD 1.0 45.00–48.99
FF 0.0 44.99 and below

Other Grades:

  1. DZ (Absent): Assigned to students who fail to meet attendance requirements; treated as FF in GPA calculation. The course must be retaken.
  2. İZ (Excused): Assigned to students on academic leave; not included in GPA. The course must be retaken.
  3. YT (Pass): Assigned for courses not included in GPA, indicating successful completion.
  4. YZ (Fail): Assigned for courses not included in GPA, indicating failure.
  5. GM (Absent from Exam): Assigned when a student does not attend an exam. It may be converted based on make-up exam participation; otherwise counted as zero.
  6. SD (Exempted): Assigned to courses removed through curriculum adaptation; not included in GPA.

COURSE RETAKE

Students must prioritize retaking failed (FF, YZ, DZ) or previously unregistered courses from lower semesters, except for prerequisite restrictions. If the failed course is elective, it may be replaced with another elective course.

When a course is retaken, the most recent grade is included in GPA calculation. Students may also retake previously passed courses to improve their GPA; the latest grade will be considered.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 to be considered successful. Those who fail to meet this requirement are deemed unsuccessful.

According to academic performance regulations, students may also be recognized as honor or high honor students based on their academic achievements.
