The digital venture titled “Torpidoda Software”, developed by Muhammed Aslantaş and Salih Can Perver, fourth-year students in the Department of Management Information Systems at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our university, achieved the distinction of competing in the final by ranking among the seven finalist teams with the highest scores within the scope of the OSTİMTech R&D and Innovation Project Market II.
Developed to address problems such as data loss, fragmented working structures, manual record-keeping systems, and the lack of digital standards in automotive after-sales service processes, Torpidoda Software brings services, dealers, fleet companies, and vehicle users together on a single digital platform. Designed as a SaaS-based system, the platform aims to increase operational efficiency by transferring document management, service records, maintenance history, and spare-parts tracking processes to the digital environment.
Among the platform’s prominent features is an artificial intelligence-supported fault assistant. Users can submit vehicle problems to the system through voice, text, or photographs, while the AI-supported infrastructure carries out a preliminary assessment of the fault. In this way, before the vehicle reaches the service centre, the relevant business can obtain information about the details of the fault and possible spare-part requirements.
As an outcome of entrepreneurial spirit, Torpidoda Software offers vehicle owners a dedicated digital identity infrastructure, enabling maintenance and service histories to be stored securely. Users can create reminders for maintenance and inspection dates, book service appointments from different cities, and evaluate the services they receive. Thus, even if the vehicle changes ownership, the preservation of maintenance history and the prevention of data loss are targeted.
This achievement, realised with the significant contributions of Dr Hüseyin Parmaksız, a faculty member in the Department of Management Information Systems, constitutes an important example at our university in terms of supporting university-industry cooperation and young entrepreneurship.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr Zafer Asım Kaplancıklı, hosted our entrepreneurial student Muhammed Aslantaş, whose venture attracted international attention and received a special invitation to the programme held in Qatar within the scope of the Continuum Spark Awards. During the meeting, Prof. Dr Kaplancıklı emphasised that the university would continue to support student entrepreneurship. Providing information about the project, our student shared his goals and future vision regarding the digital platform he developed.
Expressing his satisfaction with university students’ technology- and entrepreneurship-oriented initiatives, Rector Prof. Dr Kaplancıklı stated that it is of great importance for young people to develop innovative ideas and transform these ideas into concrete projects. He wished the Torpidoda team continued success in their work.
