Frequently Asked Questions
06 July 2024 Saturday

1) Do I need to renew my registration every semester? Do I need to apply in person for the renewal process?

Students continuing their education must renew their registration at the beginning of each academic year’s fall and spring semesters, following the dates announced in the academic calendar and the instructions on the University website. After completing the registration renewal process online, students must visit their registration advisor in person on the announced dates to confirm their registration. Students unable to confirm their registration due to valid reasons can have the process completed by their legal representatives (notarized power of attorney is required).

2) What is the passing grade for a class/semester? What are the consequences if this grade is not achieved?

Students must take all courses offered in the first two semesters of their program. From the third semester onwards, the normal course credit load for each term is as specified in the student's program. Students with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) below 2.00 can enroll in courses up to the normal term credit load (30 ECTS). Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above can enroll in courses up to 150% of the normal term credit load (45 ECTS). These GPA thresholds, which determine the allowable credit load, are applicable at the end of each term.

3) My courses are overlapping. Can I take courses from the other program?

If there is a schedule conflict with the courses they wish to enroll in, normal program students can enroll in the lower-level course in the evening program; evening program students can enroll in the lower-level course in the normal program.

4) Is attending the summer school mandatory?

Summer school is optional and is intended for students to retake courses they failed during the fall and spring semesters, to improve their cumulative GPA, to enroll in courses they could not take during the regular terms, or for successful students to take courses from the upper class.

5) How many courses can I enroll in during the summer school? Can I take a course I did not take during the regular semester?

Students can enroll in up to four courses during the summer school. They can register for courses they failed or did not take during the fall and spring semesters.

6) Can I take upper-level courses during the fall, spring, and summer terms?

Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher who meet the success criteria can select courses from the upper class. The success criterion is that the student must not have any failed or uncompleted courses.

7) Can I take courses from another university if the course I need is not offered or is canceled due to insufficient participation in the summer school?

If a course is not offered or is canceled due to insufficient participation in the University's summer school, students can take the course from another university’s summer school, provided the course credit and content are approved by the relevant Department Chair. Students from other universities can also benefit from our University’s summer school.

8) When can I take the single course exam? When should I apply for this exam?

At the end of the fall semester, spring semester, or summer school (if available), students who have fulfilled the attendance requirement for all courses but received an FF or YZ grade in one course, or those who have passed all courses but cannot graduate due to not meeting the required GPA, are given the right to take a single course exam on dates specified in the academic calendar. However, students who cannot raise their cumulative GPA to 2.00 with the grade obtained from this exam are not given the single course exam right. Eligible students must apply in writing to their respective units at least five business days before the single course exam date specified in the academic calendar.

9) Is attendance mandatory during the fall, spring, and summer terms?

Students must attend at least 70% of theoretical classes and 80% of practical sessions during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Students who do not meet this attendance requirement are assigned a grade of DZ (Absent) and are not allowed to take the exam.

10) I missed the midterm/final exam due to an excuse. What should I do to take the make-up exam?

Excuse applications must be submitted in writing to the Faculty Dean’s Office in person, by fax, or by other methods determined by the University's relevant committees within five business days from the start of the excuse period. For applications made by fax, the original document must be submitted to the Dean’s Office within five business days. Applications made outside this period are invalid. For health reports, this period starts from the date the rest report is issued.

11) How can I contact the faculty members?

You can find the contact information of faculty members by searching at http://rehber.bilecik.edu.tr/ or via the faculty web page. It is recommended to contact your advisor by email rather than phone for issues related to registration, as this will reduce congestion and improve the quality of the service you receive.

12) Can I learn the dates for registration, registration renewal, and exams?

You can access all dates from the Academic Calendar section on the University’s website.

13) Can I access the content, flow, and resources of the course I am taking or have taken?

To access the content and credits of the courses, you need to select your faculty and department at http://ebs.bilecik.edu.tr/Bolumler?BolumAd=Lisans. By examining the study plan on the opened page, you can access your course contents.
