In order to contribute to the professional development of our college instructors, a comprehensive training programme consisting of two sessions was organised with the support of Oxford University Press.
The first session, titled “More than Four Skills: Empowering Learning through Multimodality Literacy,” explored how learning processes can be enriched through multimodal literacy, going beyond the four core skills in language teaching.
The second session, titled ‘From Surviving to Flourishing: Practical Approaches to Wellbeing,’ evaluated practical approaches to supporting educators' well-being by addressing ways to cope with stress and burnout encountered in their academic lives.
We would like to thank Oxford University Press for their support in this collaboration.
The English theater and music event organized by Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University School of Foreign Languages on May 28, 2025, was held with great interest from the participants. In the event, the students brought the language skills they learned throughout the year as part of the English preparatory program to the stage by blending them with creativity.
The program began with the opening speech of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin Acar, Director of the School of Foreign Languages. Emphasizing in his speech that language is not only a means of communication but also a form of culture and expression, Acar stated that the performances staged by the students were a reflection of this understanding.
In the program hosted by Lecturer Dr. Ayça Bakırer, the students staged the English theater play “Who is Crazy Now?”. Then, English songs were sung in the musical performance accompanied by guitar. The audience actively participated in the performance thanks to the projection of the lyrics.
At the end of the event, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yurdakul presented certificates of appreciation to the academic staff who devotedly worked in the preparation of the event. In this context, certificates of appreciation were presented to Lecturer Dr. Ayça Bakıner and Lecturer Gülşah Çakmak for their efforts. The event was the product of a long-term study carried out voluntarily. In addition to their English language proficiency, the students also brought their skills such as self-confidence, cooperation, and creativity to the stage. As the School of Foreign Languages, we sincerely thank all our students who worked hard in this process and express our gratitude to all our guests who honored our event with their participation.
An orientation meeting was held for optional (English) preparatory class students on 30 September 2024. Students were informed about the new term and the system.
