The Scientific Research Project titled “Extracting Qualitative Research Themes and Categories from YouTube Videos Using Large Language Models,” led by Dr. Osman Akarsu, a faculty member of our department, has been approved and funded by the BAP Unit of our university.

The project began in October 2024 and is expected to last approximately 12 months, aims to extract qualitative research themes and categories from YouTube videos using AI-based and deep learning models through a video-based research approach. The project explores the use of deep learning models—rarely applied in the field of social sciences—to uncover qualitative patterns, which may open up new potential research areas.

By offering an alternative to traditional data collection methods, the project emphasizes that the use of large language models (LLMs) is not limited to natural sciences or medicine but also applies to various branches of the social sciences. The project promotes advanced interdisciplinary integration and suggests potential applications across different domains.
