Our Faculty of Arts and Sciences, which includes our department, was established with the decision numbered Additional Article-81 of Law No. 5662 dated 29.05.2007. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, one of the young and R&D-oriented departments of our faculty, started its education life in 2010 with two faculty members. Our department examines life at the molecular level using developing technology within the framework of basic knowledge; It is a department that has adopted the principle of making the knowledge gained in many fields such as medicine, pharmaceutical industry, food, industry and environment applicable.

Our department admitted 45 students with an additional quota in the fall semester of the 2010-2011 academic year. Today, it has a total of 259 students, including 28 optional preparatory students, 49 first-year students, 49 second-year students, 35 third-year students and 98 4th-year students; It continues its education life with 12 faculty members, 2 research assistants and 1 administrative staff. There is 1 student laboratory (120 m2) and 6 research laboratories (325 m2) belonging to the Molecular Biology and Genetics department.

In the research laboratory of the Molecular Biology and Genetics department, molecular ecological genetics, molecular microbiology, molecular plant physiology, cancer and cell culture, epigenetics and new generation drug trial studies in cancer continue.
