About Us
Bilecik Seyh Edebali University, Department of Mathematics started its active education life in 2010 and gave its first undergraduate graduates in 2014. Immediately after the establishment of our department, it activated the Master's and Doctorate programs in 2011 in partnership with Anadolu University. Since 2018, we have activated our Master's and PhD Programs since 2020 as the Department of Mathematics under the Institute of Graduate Education within our University. The Department of Mathematics has an active, competent, and productive academic staff of 17 consisting of 4 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors and 2 Research Assistants. The major scientific branches of the department are Analysis and Functional Theory, Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry, Fundamentals of Mathematics and Mathematical Logic, Topology, and Applied Mathematics .
The primary objective of the Mathematics Department is to cultivate contemporary individuals who are inquisitive, solution-oriented, capable of expressing their thoughts effectively, confident, and well-educated in their field through the power of reasoning. The instruction provided in the department aims to develop a general "scientific thinking" ability and, more specifically, to train scientists who can conduct academic research in the fields of pure and applied mathematics.
Work Areas for Mathematicians
There is a demand for mathematicians in fields like information technology, banking, engineering, artificial intelligence, data analysis, commerce, and research in social and basic sciences. Mathematics education also holds a place in the field of computer science. By improving their computer programming abilities, graduates can find employment in computer-intensive jobs in private or public institutions. Those who specialize in Applied Mathematics can secure positions in government organizations such as DİE, MTA, TEK, and DSİ. Graduates can work as teachers in secondary education, private high schools, and tutoring centers, subject to the conditions set by the Ministry of National Education.
