What is NIP?

The Presidency Human Resources Office (CBİKO) has launched the National Internship Program (NIP) to ensure that our youth benefit from internship opportunities offered by public institutions and private sector organizations in line with equal opportunity principles and merit-based criteria.

Through this program, the aim is to increase the employability of young people through a transparent, traceable, and innovative evaluation method, support equal opportunities in accessing career options, and expand internship opportunities beyond just technical departments requiring mandatory internships to all fields.

Students applying for the program are evaluated based on their academic/professional performance, efforts to improve their skills, and achievements during their educational journey, through scores in academic/professional, artistic/social, and sports qualifications. Employers, without viewing the students' personal information, send internship offers based on the scores obtained in those qualification areas.

In addition to its success in Turkey, the program is also well-regarded abroad and has been showcased by the OECD as an exemplary practice for member countries on two occasions. It provides many young individuals at the beginning of their professional lives with the opportunity to experience the workforce while still being students and to guide their career journeys.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM?

Students continuing their education at universities in Turkey, the TRNC, and abroad with a minimum GPA of 2 out of 4 (or equivalent in other systems):

  • Students in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of formal education in undergraduate programs (excluding medical and teaching programs).
  • Students in the 1st or 2nd year of formal education in associate degree programs.
  • Turkish citizens or Blue Card holders continuing their master's or doctoral studies abroad with a minimum GPA of 2 out of 4 (or equivalent in other systems).

*Since the general GPAs are not yet finalized, this requirement is not sought for 1st-year associate degree students during the application period.

At the time of the internship:

  • 2nd-year undergraduate and 1st-year associate degree students are expected to have progressed to the next level, while 4th-year undergraduate and 2nd-year associate degree students must not have graduated.
  • The GPA of 1st-year associate degree students should be above 2. Otherwise, employers may cancel internship offers.
