Historical Development
Our Metallurgical and Materials Engineering department was opened in 2014 and started accepting students in the 2015-2016 academic year. The first student graduated in the 2018-2019 academic year. In addition, as of 2018, our department started the 7+1 (7 semesters of courses + 1 semester of industrial training) application.

Education
Our department provides education in Turkish and full-time under the name of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. There is an optional English preparatory class. In addition, there is a double major and minor application in our department. As of 2018, master's degree education has started in our department and it is planned to accept students for doctorate in 2019.

Program Qualifications
Students of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department do a total of 40 working days of internship application, 20+20 working days, during the four-year education period. With the internship, students both gain workplace experience and have the ability to find a job by communicating with the sector. In addition, with the 7+1 workplace application in our department, students carry out activities that enable them to recognize employee-employer relations, organization, production and occupational safety systems and new technologies.

Program qualifications and course learning outcomes
Program Qualifications (Outcomes):

PO1 Gains the ability to apply and interpret the basic principles of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in laboratory studies.
PO2 Explains the rules regarding the safety of the devices used in laboratory studies, applies the rules and defines their effects on the environment.
PO3 Understands the subject of laboratory safety, recognizes general laboratory materials and knows how to use laboratory materials.
PO4 Gains the ability to conduct experiments, collect data, evaluate results, and produce solutions to problems encountered in the production environment and laboratory.
PO5 Gains basic theoretical and applied knowledge in mathematics, science and professional fields and has the ability to use them in producing solutions.
PO6 Has basic computer usage knowledge to meet the requirements of the field and gains internet communication skills, and also has the ability to access accurate scientific resources in this way.
P.Ç.7 Has the ability to follow innovations and developments in the world in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and related fields.

P.Ç.8 Can produce solutions when faced with unforeseen situations in applications related to his/her profession, take responsibility in teamwork or work individually, has the ability to work on interdisciplinary issues.

P.Ç.9 Can apply by examining relevant processes in the industry and service sector on site.

P.Ç.10 Has sufficient awareness on universality of social rights, social justice, environmental protection, occupational health and safety.

P.Ç.11 Ability to communicate effectively in Turkish verbally and in writing; has foreign language knowledge at a level to follow developments related to his/her profession.

In cases where program outcomes cannot be achieved, academic meetings and evaluations are held within the scope of improvement studies. Studies on the improvement procedure related to the subject are ongoing.

 

Research and Development
In the institution, BAP projects, TÜBİTAK projects, activities carried out within the scope of lifelong learning program in the continuing education center are organized. Our department contributes to the socio-economic cultural texture of our city and region.

Stakeholders
Internal stakeholders (academic and administrative staff, students) and external stakeholders (employers, graduates, research sponsors, relatives of students, etc.)

Student representative
The student representative is a member of commissions and teams such as the quality commission and strategic planning team on behalf of the students. In these team and commission meetings, the opinions and suggestions of the students are brought to the agenda. In addition, opinions and suggestions are brought to the agenda and discussed from the communication sections on the homepage.

International student representative
We do not have an international student representative.

As the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, for a quality education and unique management; Erasmus Coordination, Farabi Coordination, Mevlana Coordination, Internship Commission, Unit Quality Board, Summer School Commission, Adaptation-Horizontal Transfer-Vertical Transfer and Exemption Commission, Market Price Research and Value Determination Commission, Inspection Acceptance and Purchasing Commission, Sports and Scientific Activities Commission, Academic Promotion and Appointment Commission, Department Promotion Commission and Alumni Commission have been established. These commissions and boards continue their work actively.
