DOUBLE MAJOR & MINOR PROGRAMS

General Information
Students have the opportunity to obtain a second diploma or certificate in a different academic field of interest through the Double Major (ÇAP) and Minor programs offered by our university. These programs help students receive a more versatile education while also increasing their competitive power in the labor market.

Double Major Program (ÇAP)

The Double Major Program is an academic application in which students, in addition to their current department, continue in another undergraduate program to graduate with two diplomas.

Application Requirements:

  • The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) must be at least 2.72.

  • The semester to apply: at the earliest the 3rd semester, at the latest the 5th semester.

  • The student must have successfully passed all courses up to the application semester.

  • The student should rank within the top 20% of their class (if not, the approval of the program to which they apply is required).

  • Applications are accepted within quota limits.

Academic Obligations:

  • The student must successfully complete mandatory courses of both departments.

  • If a student does not enroll in any courses for two consecutive semesters, their Double Major registration will be canceled.

  • If a student is dismissed from the main department, the Double Major program also ends.

Minor Program

The Minor Program allows students to gain academic knowledge in their fields of interest by completing a certain number of courses in another department. At the end of the Minor program a certificate — not a diploma — is awarded.

Application Requirements:

  • The CGPA must be at least 2.50.

  • The semester to apply: at the earliest the 3rd semester, at the latest the 6th semester.

  • The student must have passed all courses.

  • Quotas are limited; each department announces its own quota.

Academic Obligations:

  • Minor students must successfully complete the specified mandatory courses and sufficient credits.

  • If a student does not renew registration for two consecutive semesters, the Minor registration is canceled.

Application Process and Required Documents

Applications are made during the dates announced in the university’s academic calendar. Applications can be submitted in person to the student affairs unit or through the online system.

Required Documents:

  • Current Transcript

  • Application Petition (using the relevant form)

  • Student Certificate

Academic Advising and Course Planning

Students choose courses in consultation with academic advisors of both the main and minor/major programs. Double major students are required to satisfy both mandatory and elective course requirements in both programs. Minor students must complete a certain number of specified courses.

Graduation and Certification

  • Students who successfully complete the Double Major program receive two separate undergraduate diplomas.

  • Students who successfully complete the Minor program become eligible for the Minor certificate.

  • To be eligible for these documents, the student must also graduate from the main program.
